I received my bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Alcala in 2013. In 2014 I obtained my master’s degree in Clinic Investigation and Applied to Oncology. During my last year of bachelor’s degree and while I was studying my master’s degree, I worked at department of Medical Specialties of University of Alcalá as research staff, studying Recent Thymic Emigrants in Rheumatoid Arthritis patients, under the supervision of Dr. Melchor Álvarez de Mon. In September 2014, I joined the Gastrointestinal Cancer Research Unit at CNIO, as a PhD student; and in May 2017 I joined the Cell Division and Cancer Group to continue with my PhD. During my Thesis, I have tried different synergistic combinations of the recently-approved CDK4/6 inhibitors and a drug commonly used for the treatment of many cancers: Paclitaxel. Our observations, both in vitro and in vivo, are promising and point to these combinations as potential therapeutic strategies to be applied in the clinic.
