I am Portuguese and studied Molecular Biology and Genetics (BSc and MSc) in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. I started my scientific career as a trainee at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC, Portugal) whilst still an undergraduate student and later I joined the Instituto de Medicina Molecular (IMM, Portugal) as a research assistant. I was awarded a La Caixa-Severo Ochoa International Doctoral Fellowship in 2013 and became part of the Cell Division and Cancer group (at CNIO), to pursue my doctoral studies. Since then, I am working on cell cycle phosphatases and their characterization, both in vivo and in vitro. My PhD project is focused on the functional relevance of these phosphatases in mammals, not only in the scenario of cell cycle but also during differentiation of several tissues.
