International Day of Women and Girl in Science, 2020
International Day of Women and Girl in Science, 2020. This year, CaixaForum Madrid organised an event for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and our lab mate Maria was invited, representing the Innovative program of La Caixa Foundation (CaixaImpulse). The participants were outstanding scientists in Spain: María Blasco, director of the CNIO, talked about “Molecular biology at the service of Basic cancer Research”. For its part, María Salazar, on behalf of the CaixaImpulse program, spoke on “Molecular biology at the service of Innovation.” Blanca Fuentes, neurologist at the Hospital de La Paz spoke on “Medicine at the service of Clinical Research in neurosciences”; while Helena Domínguez, archeologist at the Rey Juan Carlos University, and Isabel Dorado, Doctor in Ecology from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, talked respectively about “Art is also Science” and “Engineer, woman and bet on climate change.” The roundtable was very dynamic and engaging and counted with inspiring questions and comments from the audience. A day to celebrate, a right and a duty for all of us.
